Sweet Zachy

Zachy had a fever today and was not feeling well tonight. I felt so bad for him. He laid across my lap while we put together our annual backpacks for the church school supply drive. Zach was fascinated with the color pencils, but I also took this as a valuable opportunity to discuss why we do these missions. He seemed happy to think that a little boy will have a Star Wars Clone Wars backpack. We’ll drop off the backpacks on Sunday. We were going to go tomorrow night to our Wednesday night class, but not going now with Zachy not feeling well. I also have a whole box of puzzles (seriously – only about 1/2 of what was on Alex’s shelf, but not the ones that he does anymore) to drop off. Zach was a bit annoyed about all of these puzzles leaving (he’s really into his puzzles right now) but was “shocked” to hear me tell him that some kids don’t have puzzles and need our puzzles!

They are always learning. It is amazing to be able to teach them these great values that will hopefully last them through their lives. More later in the week on the boys!

July update

Well, you will notice a huge lack of new photos of us right now as my Nikon CoolPix camera is being returned to Nikon to see if they will or will not fix my camera under the warranty (according to the customer service rep, they were not sure until they looked at the camera). So word to the wise, DO NOT BUY A NIKON COOLPIX CAMERA. This is the camera that I have had for only one month – we bought it after my longtime point and shoot camera was the victim of an over-excited Zachary during a dinner at Disney World. At Holiday World last weekend, I kept getting a “lens error” and then the camera would shut off. Annoying! So bear with me as I recycle photos for my posts. I promise to pick only good ones :-)

This weekend has been HOT but a nice family weekend. We have not had a weekend with just us since we returned from Disney World (Oh my gosh!) so it has been wonderful!  Alex went to a birthday party on Saturday and had a wonderful time with his friends.  While Alex and I were at the party, Chris and Zach spent time together. Then Zach slept 2.5 hours! Chris smoked a chicken all day and we had BBQ pulled chicken. It was very tasty – we love the smoker that I got him for Father’s Day. Chris and I both volunteered in the church children’s class today – the room that Alex is in. I’m not in that room permanently, but this summer is seeing a need for volunteers so I’m filling in as needed. Then next month, I become a regular volunteer – twice a month. We had a wonderful day with the boys. It was not as hot outside so they played for several hours in the backyard. They just went to bed and are very excited to go back to their summer program at school tomorrow. Alex has more swim classes this week and Zach enjoys three days of water play with his class.

It is supposed to be another hot week. Looking forward to Alex having two nights of T-Ball, Wednesday night is our church class, and Chris is going to help with the church’s Habitat build on Saturday morning. I have yet to go to a Saturday Fishers Farmers Market this summer (very sad about that) so I’m planning to head over there with the boys while Chris is out of the house. All this and looking forward to our annual visit with the Bourgoines (Kathryn, Kerry and Julien).

Looking forward to all the great weeks ahead!

A Fun Day at Holiday World!

It was really hot (about 95 degrees) but we did not let that stop us! We toted the boys all around the Holiday World theme park for our 2nd annual trip to Santa Claus, IN! Last year we did two days (Friday/Saturday) but this year we decided to just do the trip in one day.

Here are some nice photos:

The boys enjoy listening to Santa – this was the end of the day (before our last few rides and dinner) so the boys were happy to sit in the shade and cool down.
