Katie Mohr approached me back in February (a month after starting our exercise Boot Camp) about running the 5K race that starts off our annual Fishers Freedom Festival. I admit that I laughed at her…realized that she was serious…and then leaped at the challenge and signed up! Since then I have lost 7 lbs and burned 14 inches of fat from various places on my body! 🙂 The most being from my waist and hips! Woo Hoo!

I felt pretty good back in May when I ran 2 miles on a treadmill. That made me feel pretty good about my chances of finishing this 5K (roughly 3.5 miles). Katie and I had a very good, slow pace going the entire race. We were passed by alot of runners but we also ran by alot of people! That felt pretty good.  We had a lovely run – looking at the people around us, talking, and looking at the houses…all things that we normally do! Hah! I felt really good until we were about 1/2 mile from the finish line. But I pushed it through and we were within seconds of the end when we saw Chris standing with Alex and Zachy. I waved to them that we were coming to the end and they smiled, waved, and cheered us on! That felt wonderful!

I’m really proud of me and Katie for doing this – doing it together helped me a ton. We were a sweaty mess by the end but I’m happy to report that I’m still mobile. Took some tylenol to help with leg and hip pain this morning but that is it. I’m happy that I did this and the boys were able to see me finish this huge goal that I had in 2010!

Katie and I heading to the finish line!

Feeling good that we ran the ENTIRE race (our time was in the 28 minute area…not too shabby for us moms!)
