Nothing helps from the burn out of work more than a great trip over to New Jersey. We left the day before Alex turned 7 and spent his bday at Dorney Park in PA. The day was great – nice temps, no lines at ANY ride, and good boys!  Then we headed down to Wildwood Crest on Friday morning to send a full 8 days at Dad’s new beach house! It was fantastic! We overlapped time at the house with Uncle Bruce, Aunt Ellen, Dennis, Lynn, Ryan and Taylor. And Tom came down as well along with Grandma and Grandpa (aka The Greats…who are now The Great Greats, since Amanda had baby G in January!. So we had LOTS of Bergman time on Friday and Saturday. Dennis, Lynn and the kids left on Saturday night, then Uncle Bruce, Aunt Ellen, and The Greats drove up north on Monday morning. Chris, Uncle Bruce, and Grandpa went out on a fishing boat on Sunday. Chris came back with some very funny stories, but Grandpa was laughing at us because he caught the “biggest fish” prize! 92 years old and still winning fishing prizes. Then Alicia, Shawn and his kids showed up for a few days. We enjoyed lots of time on the beach, riding ocean waves with boogie boards, and swimming in the pool. This was the first year that Chris and I did not have to always be in the water with the boys. Alex’s swim lessons (4 days per week this summer) are definitely paying off! And Zach wanted to go far out into the ocean waves and hang out in his “hot tub” (a hole near the water that would fill with water).

We had a great week away…and got home on Saturday night. Then it was back to our normal schedule. The boys were happy to head back to camp for Alex and Learning Time’s summer program – Zach is also doing a lot of swimming. He swims 3 times per week.

Tomorrow we are receiving annual guests, Kathryn, Kerry and their boys! Looking forward to a great weekend with them!

Happy Jersey Boys!

I committed to a crazy venture back in January – the 1st Annual (hopefully) Indianapolis Dirty Girl Mud Run! Katie did a great job organizing a team, creating t-shirts, and even buying us tube socks. After 4 months of rigorous Insanity Beachbody workouts along with my 3 times per week workouts at the office, I have lost 5 lbs. and (even better) 5% body fat. I was really happy to finish the course today – running from obstacle to obstacle!  Now I am doing a high-intensity cardio program and looking forward to the Fishers 5K Run on June 23rd!

Things have been hectic recently- Alex broke his arm for a second time (same arm, different break) so a lot of time has been devoted to that. Zach started soccer on Saturday mornings and has really enjoyed going to the games each week.

Well, I really did commit to blogging more this year, but by the end of each day, the last thing that I want to do is type more. Plus I have been exercising more in the evenings after dinner and that is taking up more time as well outside of work.

We are now a “Spring Break” family. Alex’s school was closed for 6 school days and we took the opportunity to enjoy 8 days in Orlando at the Disney World Resort. Our trip overlapped with Justin and Kelly’s break (also at DW) and we planned it to be at the same resort. Actually our rooms were right next to each other! We were also joined for the week by Grandpa and Kathy! They spent every day with us no matter what park we went to and helped a lot with shepherding children and keeping up with us.

We love Disney World a lot and the boys are happily joining us. They will tell you that their favorite ride was Tower of Terror! Zach could now ride on most of the rides (he’s now over 40 inches) but there were a few (Space Mountain, Everest Rollercoaster) that he could not. But he took that in stride and we did other things with him so he hardly even missed it.  And next time, he should be 44 inches and okay for those rides.

It’s always sad to leave the most magical place, so we are already plotting our next vacation there!
